Applesauce Date Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients

2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda, dissolved in hot apple sauce
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. cloves
1/2 c. shortening (Crisco)
1 c. sugar
1 egg, beaten
1/2 c. chopped dates
1/2 c. chopped pecans
1 c. hot applesauce (unsweetened)
1 tsp. vanilla

Preparation

Cream shortening.
Add
sugar.
Blend well.
Add beaten egg and applesauce.
Rub dates with little flour.
Add remaining ingredients.
Bake in
ring (tube) pan (greased).
Bake at 350\u00b0 for 45 minutes.
