Sour Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    cucumbers, sliced lengthwise
    brine for 1 gallon
    4 tsp. dry mustard
    4 tsp. salt
    4 tsp. sugar
    1/4 tsp. alum
    1/2 vinegar and 1/2 water to equal 1 gallon
Preparation
    Place cucumbers in quart jars packed tightly.
    Add brine, covering cucumbers, leaving air space.
    Let set for 3 weeks. Refrigerate before using.
