Lime Sweet Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    7 lb. cucumbers, sliced
    2 gal. water
    2 c. lime
    3 qt. vinegar
    12 c. sugar
    2 Tbsp. salt
    2 Tbsp. pickling spices
    1 tsp. celery seed
    1 tsp. mustard seed
    blue and green food coloring (optional)
Preparation
    Dissolve lime thoroughly in water before adding cucumbers. Let stand 24 hours, stirring occasionally.
    Take out and wash 4 times in clear water.
    Let stand in clear, cold water for 3 hours. Drain.
    Mix the vinegar, sugar, salt, pickling spices, celery seed and mustard seed (put spices in a bag).
    Mix well and pour this mixture over cold cucumbers.
    Let set overnight.
