Peanut Butter Cookies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. firmly packed light brown sugar
    1/2 c. vegetable shortening
    1 c. chunky peanut butter
    1 large egg
    1 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
    1/2 tsp. baking soda
    1/2 tsp. salt
Preparation
    In a bowl, cream together the brown sugar, shortening and peanut butter, beating until the mixture is light and fluffy. Beat in the egg and stir in the flour, baking soda and salt.
    Form tablespoons of the dough into balls.
    Transfer balls to baking sheets.
    Flatten with the tines of a fork, making a crosshatch pattern.
    Bake in batches in the middle of a preheated 400\u00b0 oven for 8 to 10 minutes or until golden.
    Cool on racks.
