Ingredients

1 c. butter
1 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. granulated sugar
1 egg
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
2 1/2 c. flour
1/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 c. chopped filberts or walnuts
1/2 c. maraschino cherries, quartered
6 oz. chocolate chips
Preparation

Cream butter and sugars thoroughly; add egg and vanilla, beating well.
Sift together dry ingredients; add to creamed mixture.
Add nuts, then cherries and chocolate chips; stir to blend well.
Drop by teaspoons onto a greased cookie sheet.
Top each cookie with half a cherry, if desired.
Bake at 375\u00b0 for 10 to 12 minutes.
Yields about 4 dozen cookies.
