Apple Pie Cake - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1/2 C. shortening
2 C. sugar
2 eggs
2 tsp. vanilla
2 c. flour
2 tsp. baking soda
2 tsp. nutmeg
2 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. salt
4 Tbsp. hot water
5 C. diced apples, peeled and cored
1 C. chopped walnuts
Preparation

Cream shortening and sugar together. Stir in eggs and vanilla. Sift flour, baking soda, nutmeg, cinnamon and salt. Stir half the flour mixture into the shortening mixture. Beat in 2 Tbsp. of the hot water. Stir in remaining flour mixture, then the remaining water, beating after each addition. Stir in diced apples and nuts. Spread in two greased 9x9 inch pans or 1 9x13 pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 to 50 minutes or until sides pull away from pan.
Serve with Cool Whip or vanilla ice cream.
