Pumpkin Bread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2/3 c. shortening
    2 2/3 c. sugar
    4 eggs
    1 (1 lb.) can plain pumpkin
    2/3 c. water
    3 1/3 c. flour
    1/2 tsp. baking powder
    2 tsp. baking soda
    1 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. cinnamon
    1 tsp. ground cloves
    2/3 c. chopped walnuts
    2/3 c. raisins or chopped dates (both are good)
Preparation
    Cream shortening and sugar well.
    Beat in eggs, pumpkin and water.
    Sift together dry ingredients.
    Add to pumpkin mixture. Stir well.
    Add flour, nuts, dates and raisins and stir well again.
    Pour into 2 (2-quart) greased and floured loaf pans.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 1 hour (touch test same as for cakes).
