Hungarian Pastry - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 lb. butter or margarine
    3 1/4 c. flour
    1 tsp. baking powder
    6 egg yolks, beaten
    4 Tbsp. sugar
    1/2 c. chopped nuts
    1 c. sugar
    1/2 tsp. baking soda
    1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
    6 egg whites
    1 Solo fruit preserves
Preparation
    Cream sugar and butter.
    Add
    flour (sifted with baking powder and soda).\tAdd
    alternately, the egg yolks with vanilla.\tBeat until
    thick.
    Take
    the
    beaters
    off.
    Mix
    well. Press dough in 11\tx
    17-inch
    pan
    with palm of hand.
    Spread fruit preserves over dough.
    Beat egg whites stiff with sugar; spread over the preserves.\tSprinkle with nuts.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 25 to 30 minutes.
    Cool.
    Cut into squares.
