Date Nut Bread(Bread And Butter Sandwiches) - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 (10 oz.) pkg. pitted dates
    1 1/4 c. boiling water
    1 tsp. baking soda
    1 c. packed brown sugar
    2 eggs, beaten
    1/2 c. chopped pecans
    1 c. all-purpose flour
    2 tsp. baking powder
    1 tsp. salt
    1 c. whole wheat flour
Preparation
    Cut up dates and pour the boiling water over.
    Add baking soda and cool for 20 minutes.
    Beat in sugar, eggs and pecans.
    Sift together remaining dry ingredients and add to date mixture.
    Stir until just blended.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 1 hour and 20 minutes. Slice thinly and spread with butter (not margarine).
    Cut into dainty little sandwiches.
