Cornbread - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 c. flour, sifted
1 c. cornmeal
1/4 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
4 tsp. baking powder
1/4 c. shortening or oil
1 egg, slightly beaten
1 c. milk
Preparation

Mix dry ingredients together.
Add oil or melted shortening and milk.
Stir just until all dry ingredients are wet.
Pour in a 9 x 9-inch square pan which has been greased, sprinkled with cornmeal and heated.
Cook 20 minutes at 425\u00b0 or until lightly browned.
Turn out on platter and cut in squares.
(Top is crusty with cornmeal.)
