Old-Fashioned Apple Butter - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 peck or 12 lb. apples
    2 qt. apple cider
    6 c. sugar
    1 Tbsp. cinnamon
    1 tsp. cloves
Preparation
    Wash, drain and slice apples.
    Cook in cider until soft. Press through sifter or food mill.
    Boil until thick enough to heap on a spoon.
    Add sugar and spices.
    Boil until thick.
    Pour into hot jars.
    Process for 15 minutes in boiling water bath.
