1 large fryer or hen, cut up
2 c. flour
1/3 c. shortening
Preparation

Cut up and boil chicken, covered with water.
Lift chicken from broth; cool and bone, placing chicken back in broth.
Salt and pepper to taste.
Bring to boil to get ready for the dumplings.
