Pickled Peaches - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    8 lb. peaches (Indian)
    8 whole cloves
    8 (2-inch) sticks cinnamon
    4 lb. sugar
    2 qt. vinegar
Preparation
    Put cloves and spice in a thin cloth.
    Cook with sugar and vinegar for 10 minutes or until thickened.
    Add peaches.
    Cook until tender.
    Let stand overnight.
    In the morning, remove spices.
    Drain syrup from peaches and boil until thickened.
    Pack syrup over peaches, filling jars to top.
    Seal tightly.
