Beef Barley Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 lb. ground beef
    2 1/2 c. cold water
    1 (14 1/2 oz.) can stewed tomatoes
    3/4 c. sliced carrots
    2 (4 oz.) cans mushrooms, drained and sliced
    1/2 c. quick uncooked barley
    2 cloves garlic, minced
    1 tsp. oregano
    salt and pepper
    1/2 lb. Velveeta cheese, cubed
Preparation
    Brown beef, drain fat and stir in water and all ingredients. Bring to a boil.
    Reduce heat, cover and simmer 30 minutes. Season to taste.
    If too thick, add water.
    Stir in cubed cheese until melted.
    Serves 6.
