Ingredients

3/4 c. shortening
1/4 c. molasses
1 c. sugar
1 egg
2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. ginger
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
2 tsp. soda
Preparation

Melt shortening in saucepan over low heat.
Cool.
Add sugar, molasses and egg.
Beat well.
Sift together flour, soda, spices and salt.
Add to first mixture.
Mix well.
Chill overnight. Form into one-inch balls.
Roll in sugar.
Place 2 or 2 1/2-inches apart on cookie sheet. Bake at 350\u00b0 for 5 to 8 minutes.
