Lime Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    7 lb. cucumbers, chunked
    1 gal. water
    1 c. pickling lime
    1 qt. vinegar
    1 qt. water
    2 Tbsp. salt
    2 Tbsp. pickling spices
    7 c. or 3 1/2 lb. sugar
Preparation
    Soak the first 3 ingredients for 24 hours.
    Drain and rinse well, then cover with clear water for 1 hour.
    Drain.
    Mix remaining ingredients together.
    Pour mixture over chunked cucumbers and bring to a boil.
    Add a little green food coloring for looks.
    Reduce heat and simmer for 30 minutes.
    Remove from heat and pack in sterilized jars and seal.
