1/2 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
1 3/4 c. flour
1/2 c. cocoa
1 1/4 tsp. baking soda
1/8 tsp. salt
1 c. buttermilk
Preparation

Cream shortening and sugar in large mixer bowl.
Add egg and vanilla; beat well.
Combine flour, cocoa, baking soda and salt. Add alternately with buttermilk to creamed mixture.
Drop by tablespoonfuls, 2-inches apart, onto lightly greased cookie sheet. Bake at 375\u00b0 for 8 to 10 minutes or until cookie springs back when touched lightly in center.
Cool.
