Horatio'S Burnt Creme - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 pt. whipping cream
    4 egg yolks
    1/2 c. sugar
    1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Heat cream over low heat until bubbles form around edge of pan. Beat egg yolks and sugar together until thick, about 3 minutes. Gradually beat cream into egg yolks.
    Stir in vanilla and pour into 6 (6-ounce) custard cups.
    Place cups in pan of boiling water, 1/2-inch deep.
    Bake in preheated oven (350\u00b0 or a little less) until set, about 45 minutes.
    (If custard cups are glass, bake at 325\u00b0 for about an hour.)
    Remove cups from water and refrigerate until chilled and sprinkle with 2 teaspoons sugar.
    Place on rack under broiler and cook until topping is medium brown.
    Chill before serving.
