Butterscotch Brownies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3/4 c. sifted flour
    1 tsp. baking powder
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1/4 c. chopped nuts (optional)
    3/4 c. chocolate chips (optional)
    1/4 c. butter or margarine
    1 c. packed brown sugar
    1 egg
    1/2 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Sift together flour, baking powder and salt.
    Stir in nuts. Melt butter in top of double boiler.
    Gradually add sugar and cook for 2 minutes.
    Stir a couple of times.
    Remove from heat and beat in egg and vanilla.
    Stir in nut and flour mixture.
    Add chocolate chips, if using.
