Political Chili - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/3 c. oil
    5 medium onions, sliced
    3 lb. ground beef
    2 Tbsp. chili powder
    1 Tbsp. salt
    3 cans (20 oz.) red beans or Oklahoma pinto beans, precooked
    1 tsp. paprika
    3/4 tsp. Tabasco
    1/4 tsp. oregano
    2 cans (1 lb. 12 oz.) tomatoes
    1 can (6 oz.) tomato paste
Preparation
    Heat oil in a 6 or 8-quart saucepan.
    Add onions and cook until tender but not brown.
    Add ground beef; sprinkle with chili powder, salt, paprika, Tabasco and oregano.
    Cook meat until brown, breaking meat up with a fork as it cooks.
    Add tomatoes and tomato paste, cover and simmer 45 minutes.
    Add beans and simmer 15 minutes more.
    Yields 5 quarts.
