Classic Butter Cookies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. (2 sticks) butter
    1/2 c. sugar
    1 egg
    1/2 tsp. almond extract
    2 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
Preparation
    Cream butter.
    Gradually beat in sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in egg and almond extract.
    Gradually blend in flour.
    Chill dough for ease in handling.
    Roll dough out to 1/8-inch thickness. Cut in to desired shapes.
    Place on ungreased cookie sheets. Bake 8 to 12 minutes until golden.
    Remove to wire racks to cool completely.
    Decorate as desired.
