Beef Gumbo Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 lb. beef shank
    2 Tbsp. oil
    2 Tbsp. salt
    2 onions, sliced
    6 carrots, sliced
    2 potatoes, diced
    1/2 c. celery, chopped
    1 Tbsp. garlic powder
    1 (16 oz.) can tomatoes
    1 pkg. frozen lima beans
    1 (16 oz.) can green beans
    1 (16 oz.) can kernel corn
    1/4 head cabbage, sliced
    1 (16 oz.) can okra, drained
    2 qt. water
Preparation
    Cut beef in small pieces and brown in oil.
    Add salt and 2 quarts water and onion.
    Simmer for 2 1/2 hours.
    Add carrots, potatoes, celery and garlic powder.
    Cook 30 minutes longer.
    Add tomatoes, beans, lima beans, corn and cabbage.
    Simmer until vegetables are tender.
    Add okra and heat.
