Gingerbread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. butter and lard mixed
    1/2 c. sugar
    1 egg, beaten
    1 c. molasses
    2 1/2 c. flour
    1 1/2 tsp. soda
    1 tsp. cinnamon
    1 tsp. ginger
    1/2 tsp. cloves
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 c. hot water
Preparation
    Cream
    together
    butter,
    lard
    and sugar.
    Add egg and molasses
    and beat well.
    Sift together flour, soda, cinnamon, ginger, clove
    and salt.
    Add to first mixture.
    Add hot water and beat until smooth.
    The batter is soft but it makes a fine cake. Bake in greased shallow pan 35 minutes at 325\u00b0.
    Yields 10 servings.
