Pork Chops Mexicana - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    6 ribs or loin pork chops (3/4 to 1-inch thick)
    1 tsp. salt
    3/4 c. uncooked rice (not instant)
    1/2 pkg. taco seasoning mix (1 1/2 to 2 1/2 Tbsp.)
    1 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce
    1 1/2 c. water
    1/2 c. shredded cheese (Cheddar)
    1 medium bell pepper, cut in 1/2-inch rings
Preparation
    Brown chops in lard or drippings.
    Arrange in a 9 x 13 x 2-inch pan and season with salt.
    Sprinkle rice around chops. Combine taco mix, tomato sauce and water.
    Pour over chops and rice.
    Cover tightly with foil and bake at 350\u00b0 for 1 to 1 1/4 hours (depending on thickness of chops).
    Remove from oven 10 minutes before done.
    Sprinkle with cheese and arrange green pepper slices over surface of chops and rice.
    Cover and continue baking.
