Minestrone Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 Tbsp. salad oil
    2 lb. beef for stew
    2 1/2 qt. water
    3 large carrots, sliced
    3 small white turnips, cut in thin strips
    1 small cabbage, diced
    1 large onion, diced
    2 beef bouillon cubes
    1 large can tomatoes
    1/2 c. barley
    2 tsp. salt
    1 bay leaf
    1 (16 oz.) can white kidney beans
    1 (16 oz.) can red kidney beans
    1/4 c. parsley
Preparation
    In Dutch oven over medium heat in hot oil, cook beef until well browned.
    Add water and next 9 ingredients.
    Heat to boiling. Reduce heat.
    Cover and simmer 1 hour or until tender.
    Remove bay leaf.
    Add beans (drained).
    Add parsley.
    Heat.
    Pass Parmesan cheese.
