Mom'S Chicken And Dumplings - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 large hen, cut up
    water (enough to cover the hen)
    4 to 5 c. self-rising flour
    1 egg
    1 to 1 1/2 c. chicken fat
    1 to 2 c. gruel
Preparation
    Cook hen until tender.
    Remove from broth and place in a baking dish.
    Sprinkle with poultry seasoning and bake in oven at 350\u00b0 for 10 to 15 minutes.
    Pour 2 cups cold water in broth.
    Skim 2 cups off the top.
    Let it cool.
