Tomato-Cracker Salad - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    35 to 40 saltines
    5 to 7 fresh ripe tomatoes, peeled and chopped
    1 c. mayonnaise (may need a little more)
    4 to 5 boiled eggs, chopped (optional)
    salt and pepper to taste
Preparation
    Make as many layers as necessary to fill a 1 1/2-quart casserole or container which is at least 4 inches deep.
    Begin with crackers, then tomatoes, seasonings, mayonnaise, eggs and seasonings.
    Refrigerate.
    Use within a day or two, as the salad will become soggy.
