Pfeffernuesse - cooking recipe
Ingredients

2 c. white sugar
1 1/2 c. brown sugar
1/4 c. molasses
1/4 c. milk
1/2 c. shortening
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 egg
3 to 4 c. flour
1 tsp. each: cinnamon, ginger and nutmeg
2 tsp. anise extract
1/2 tsp. pepper
Preparation

Blend sugars, molasses, milk, shortening, soda, egg and spices. Divide batter into two portions.
Mix an extra 1/2 cup flour slowly with each portion until you have a fairly stiff dough; chill.
Roll into ropes a little thicker than a finger, then use a butter knife. Cut into pieces 1-inch long.
Bake on cookie sheet at 350\u00b0 for 10 to 12 minutes.
Makes 200 little cookies.
