vanilla wafers
1 c. sugar
2 c. milk
4 to 5 eggs, separated
cornstarch
flavor
1/8 tsp. cream of tartar
4 to 5 Tbsp. sugar
Preparation

Custard:
In top of double boiler, scald milk.
Mix sugar and cornstarch.
Stir sugar and cornstarch into scalded milk.
Stir. Beat egg yolks.
Add to hot mixture, little at a time.
Cook until firm.
Cool.
Add flavor.
