Ingredients

1/2 c. butter
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. baking powder
1 c. flour
1 c. shredded coconut
1 c. walnuts or pecans
1 c. chopped dates
Preparation

Cream together butter, egg and vanilla until mixed and fluffy. Beat in dry ingredients.
Mix well after each addition.
Mix in dates, coconut and 1/2 cup nuts.
Form dough into 2 (1 1/2-inch) logs.
Roll logs in remaining nuts (1/4 cup each).
Wrap in waxed paper and chill or freeze until firm enough to slice.
Preheat oven to 350\u00b0.
Slice cookies and bake 10 to 12 minutes until golden brown.
