Seven Layer Salad - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 head lettuce, shredded into small pieces
    1 c. celery, diced
    4 hard-boiled eggs, sliced
    1 (10 oz.) pkg. frozen green peas, thawed (uncooked)
    1 onion, diced
    1/2 c. green pepper, diced
    8 slices bacon, cooked and crumbled
    2 c. mayo
    4 oz. Cheddar cheese, shredded
    1 to 2 Tbsp. sugar
Preparation
    Layer first 7 ingredients in order into bowl.
    Combine mayo and sugar; spread evenly over top of salad.
    Sprinkle with cheese and any leftover bacon bits.
    Cover.
    Refrigerate for 12 hours. Serve as is or mix first.
