Spanish Rice - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. uncooked rice
    1 Tbsp. shortening
    1/4 c. onion, finely chopped
    1/4 c. green pepper, chopped
    1/4 c. celery, chopped
    2 c. canned tomatoes
    1 tsp. sugar
    2 c. canned meat, chopped
Preparation
    Cook rice in shortening until brown.
    Add onion, pepper, celery, tomato and sugar.
    Heat until boiling.
    Reduce heat, cover and simmer 25 minutes or until rice is tender.
    Stir in meat and cook slowly, stirring occasionally, about 5 minutes or until heated.
    Serves 6.
