Cheesy Broccoli Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 large bag frozen broccoli pieces
    1 c. ham, cubed
    1/4 c. chopped onion
    1 Tbsp. minced garlic
    1 tsp. basil
    1 tsp. salt and pepper
    4 Tbsp. margarine
    8 oz. shredded Cheddar cheese
    1 1/2 c. milk or half and half
    1 can chicken broth
    1 Tbsp. cornstarch, blended with 2 Tbsp. water
Preparation
    Saute onion, garlic and ham in margarine.
    Add broccoli, salt, pepper, basil and chicken broth.
    Bring to a boil.
    Reduce to simmer and add milk.
    Simmer 30 minutes, then add cornstarch, stirring well.
    Add cheese; simmer 10 minutes.
    Serve.
