Swamp Bottom Brownies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/4 c. granulated sugar
    1 c. sifted all-purpose flour
    3 1/2 Tbsp. unsweetened cocoa powder
    2 tsp. baking powder
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1/2 c. milk
    2 Tbsp. butter, melted
    1 tsp. vanilla extract
    1/2 c. firmly packed dark brown sugar
    1 c. water
Preparation
    Heat oven to 350\u00b0.
    Grease 8-inch square baking pan.
    In large bowl with electric mixer on medium speed, combine 3/4 cup granulated sugar, flour, 1 1/2 tablespoons cocoa, baking powder and salt.
    Slowly add milk, butter and vanilla.
    Beat until smooth. Pour into greased pan.
    In 1-quart saucepan, heat remaining 1/2 cup sugar, 2 tablespoons cocoa powder, brown sugar and water over medium-high heat, stirring constantly, until thin syrup forms, about 7 minutes.
    Pour over batter in pan.
    Bake 40 minutes until brownies are firm in center.
    Cool on wire rack for 5 minutes.
    Cut into 12 rectangles and invert onto serving platter.
