Date And Nut Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients

2 c. dates, cut up in 2 c. boiling water with 2 tsp. soda
5 c. flour
1 c. shortening
2 eggs
2 c. sugar
2 c. English walnuts

Preparation

Beat eggs, shortening and sugar.
Add dates in water.
Batter will be thick.
Place 45 minutes in a 350\u00b0 oven.
If not done, bake 15 minutes longer.
