Ingredients

1 c. sugar
3 1/2 Tbsp. cornstarch
3 egg yolks (save whites)
1 tsp. butter
2 c. milk
1 tsp. vanilla
1 to 1 1/2 c. shredded coconut
baked pie shell (9-inch)
Preparation

Mix sugar and cornstarch; add eggs and milk.
Boil until thick over medium heat, stirring frequently.
Remove from heat; stir in butter, vanilla and coconut.
Pour into baked 9-inch pie shell. Cover with meringue (recipe follows).
Bake for approximately 10 minutes at 350\u00b0 until meringue is golden brown.
