Monkey Bread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 pkg. dry yeast
    1/4 c. warm water
    3/4 c. warm milk
    1/4 c. shortening
    1 tsp. salt
    3 Tbsp. sugar
    1 egg, beaten
    5 c. flour
    1/2 c. butter, melted
Preparation
    Soften yeast in water.
    Add milk, shortening, salt, sugar, egg and flour.
    Let stand 2 hours until double in bulk.
    Roll out dough to about 1/2-inch thickness; cut into 4 diamond shapes.
    Dip each piece into butter; place in tube pan.
    Let each piece overlap.
    Make 2 layers.
    Let stand 1 hour.
    Bake in moderate oven until golden brown.
    Serve warm and pull apart.
