Grandmother'S 1600'S Tea Cakes - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 c. sugar
    1 1/2 c. margarine or butter
    1/2 c. milk
    pinch of salt
    pinch of soda (optional)
    2 tsp. baking powder
    2 tsp. vanilla
    3 eggs
    2 1/2 lb. flour
Preparation
    Cream butter and sugar.
    Add eggs and beat.
    Add other ingredients as listed.
    Gradually add enough flour to make a stiff dough (about 2 1/2 pounds).
    You may let the dough rest one hour before rolling (this is optional).
    Roll and cut with cookie cutters.
    Bake at 375\u00b0 until slightly brown.
