Ingredients

1/2 c. smooth or crunchy peanut butter
1 1/2 c. sifted flour
1/4 tsp. soda
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 c. margarine
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. brown sugar
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 egg
1/2 c. chopped pecans
Preparation

Sift flour, soda, baking powder and salt together.
Cream peanut butter and shortening well.
Add sugars and vanilla; continue beating until fluffy.
Add egg and beat well.
Stir in flour mixture and mix thoroughly.
Chill.
Shape into 1-inch balls and place 2 inches apart on cookie sheet.
Flatten with a fork dipped in flour.
Make a crisscross pattern.
Bake in a 375\u00b0 oven for 10 to 12 minutes.
Store in airtight container.
