Red Cake - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1/2 c. shortening
1 1/2 c. sugar
2 eggs
2 oz. red food coloring
2 Tbsp. cocoa
1 tsp. salt
1 c. buttermilk
2 1/4 c. cake flour
1 tsp. vanilla
1 Tbsp. vinegar
1 tsp. baking soda
Preparation

Preheat oven to 350\u00b0.
Cream shortening, sugar and eggs. Combine coloring and cocoa, mixing well.
Add cocoa mixture to creamed shortening.
Add salt, buttermilk, flour and vanilla, beating constantly.
Mix vinegar and baking soda.
Stir, do not beat, the vinegar mixture into the batter.
Bake in two (9-inch) greased and floured cake pans for 30 to 35 minutes.
Cool.
When the cake is thoroughly cool, cut each layer in half to form 4 thin layers.
Put the following filling between the layers and on top of the cake.
