Sherried Wild Rice Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2/3 c. raw wild rice
    2 c. salted water
    2 medium leeks (including some green, diced)
    2 large mushrooms, diced (I use more!)
    1/2 c. butter or margarine
    1 c. flour
    8 c. hot chicken broth
    salt and pepper to taste
    1 c. half and half
    3 Tbsp. dry sherry
Preparation
    Wash wild rice thoroughly.
    Place in a heavy saucepan with salted water.
    Bring to a boil.
    Simmer covered for about 45 minutes until tender but not mushy.
    Uncover.
    Fluff with fork. Simmer for an additional 5 minutes. Drain excess liquid.
