Bread & Butter Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 qt. thinly sliced cucumbers (do not peel)
    1 qt. onions, sliced
    2 green peppers, cut in small pieces
    1 red pepper, cut in small pieces
    1/2 c. salt
    5 c. white vinegar
    5 c. sugar
    2 Tbsp. mustard seed
    1 tsp. turmeric
    1 1/2 tsp. celery seed
Preparation
    Mix together cucumbers, onions, both kinds of peppers, and salt in large bowl or roaster. Cover with ice cubes. Set aside about 3 hours. Drain. Mix vinegar, sugar, mustard seed, turmeric, and celery seed. Put over drained vegetables and put on medium heat. Bring to a boil but do not boil. Pack in warm, sterilized jars & seal. Yields about 8 pt.
