Ingredients

1 c. sugar
1 c. molasses
1 c. shortening
2 whole eggs
2 tsp. baking soda, dissolved in 1 c. hot coffee
1 c. raisins
1 c. nuts
4 1/2 c. flour
2 tsp. cinnamon
2 tsp. ginger
1 tsp. salt
Preparation

Cream shortening.
Add sugar, then molasses.
Add beaten eggs. Sift dry ingredients together.
Stir in raisins and nuts.
Add alternately with coffee mixture.
Drop from teaspoon on greased cookie sheet.
Bake at 325\u00b0 until golden.
