Brown Bread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 c. raisins
    1 1/2 c. water
    1 Tbsp. shortening
    1 c. sugar
    1/4 tsp. salt
    1 egg
    2 2/3 c. flour
    1/2 c. nuts
Preparation
    Cream shortening and sugar.
    Add rest of dry ingredients. Blend.
    Add raisins-water mixture and nuts.
    Fill to half 4 (No. 2) cans that have been well oiled or greased.
    Bake 1 hour at 350\u00b0 or until bread springs back when pressed lightly.
    Cool 5 minutes, then remove from cans.
    Finish cooling.
    (Freezes well.)
    Any No. 2 vegetable or fruit can will do.
