President Ike'S 7 Minute Frosting(Over 50 Years Old - 1940) - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 egg whites
    1 1/2 c. sugar
    5 Tbsp. cold water
    1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
    1/8 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Mix all the items together in top of double boiler over boiling water and continue beating with rotary beater for about 7 minutes or until the frosting thickens and holds its shape when it is dropped from a beater.
    Remove immediately from boiling water.
    Add vanilla and continue beating until frosting is stiff enough to spread.
