Toffee Bars - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    10 Tbsp. (1 1/4 sticks or about 2/3 c.) butter, softened
    1/2 c. dark brown sugar
    1 tsp. vanilla extract
    1 c. flour
    1/4 tsp. salt
    4 oz. (4 sq.) semi-sweet chocolate
    1/2 c. finely chopped walnuts (optional)
Preparation
    Preheat oven to 350\u00b0.
    Get out an 8-inch square baking pan. Combine 8 tablespoons (1 stick or 1/2 cup) butter, brown sugar and vanilla; beat together until thoroughly mixed.
    Press the mixture evenly in the bottom of the pan; bake for 20 minutes.
    Remove from the oven and cool in the pan on a rack.
