Icebox Slaw - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 large or 2 small heads cabbage, chopped or grated
    2 medium onions, chopped
    3/4 c. sugar
    1 c. vinegar
    1 Tbsp. salt
    1 c. cooking oil
    1 Tbsp. celery seed
    bell pepper to taste (optional)
Preparation
    Set cabbage and onions aside.
    Mix remaining ingredients in a pot and bring to a boil.
    Pour over cabbage and onions.
    Stir well.
    Let cool and store in refrigerator in a container with tight fitting lid.
    Stores well.
