Sauerbraten - Beef In Marinade - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    chuck roast
    1 c. sugar
    1 c. water
    1 c. vinegar
    1/2 c. onion (optional)
    12 to 15 gingersnap cookies
Preparation
    Heat to a boil equal parts sugar, water and vinegar. Place chuck roast into a deep bowl. Add onions. Pour hot liquid over chuck roast. Cover and refrigerate overnight, turning twice. The longer it marinates, the more sour it gets.
