Ingredients

2/3 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
1 egg
1/2 tsp. vanilla
2 c. sifted self-rising flour
Preparation

Cream together shortening and sugar until light and fluffy. Add egg and vanilla. Beat well. Shape into roll and wrap in foil. Chill until firm. Slice 1/4 inch thick and bake at 400\u00b0 on ungreased baking sheet about 10 minutes.
Remove cookies to cooling rack.
