Ingredients

1 c. vegetable shortening
1 c. molasses
2 tsp. cinnamon
1 c. warm coffee or water
raisins (optional)
1 c. sugar
2 tsp. ginger (optional)
2 tsp. baking soda
5 c. flour
Preparation

Dissolve baking soda in warm coffee or water.
Mix all ingredients by hand.
Drop onto ungreased cookie sheets.
Bake at 350\u00b0 for 10 minutes.
